本文转载自W3CHINA.ORG讨论区(BBS.W3CHINA.ORG) 原文链接 以下为原文： value-added tax 增值税 value-added tax简称VAT，为一种销售税，系就产品或劳务在各种交易阶段的附加价值（value added或added value）所课征的某一百分比的间接税。所谓附加价值，就是指商品在生产或销售的每一过程中所增加的价值，等于该商品的销售金额减去原购进的金额。所谓间接税，就是应缴此种税的人并没有像缴所得税一样直接交给政府税务机关，而是先以其他名义交给某些特定之人，再辗转进入政府之中。例如某甲为一食品批发商，向制造商某乙以80万元买来食品一批，再以90万元的价格批发给许多零售商。在增值税系统下，某甲必须就他买卖的差额，即10万元，为税基，缴交固定百分比的增值税。但这税并不是由某甲直接缴交政府，而是在付给某乙货款时，当作货款的一部分。 假设增值税率是5%，那么应付给乙的货款，其实应该是80万加上800000╳5%＝40000，等于84万。读者应不难在现在台湾的商品价目表上，看到某些商品的价格标示后方加了一个“（不含税）”的注解。这代表若真正要购买该商品时，总价比标价要高，因为标价未含增值税额，而总价却含有税金。在这个情形下，消费者的增值税金不是交给政府，却是当货款交给了零售商，这就是“间接税”的意义。增值税在欧洲很普通，台湾在1986年4月1日 开始采用。 The value-added tax, or VAT, common in Europe and supported in principle in the House by Texas’ Archer and Sam Gibbons of Florida, is far easier to enforce, as goods are taxed at each stage of production and distribution. 增值税（VAT）在欧洲很普通，而且受到众议院中得克萨斯州的Archer与佛罗里达州的Sam Gibbons众议员的原则性支持。这种税因为在商品的每一个制造与销售过程抽税，是更容易执行的税制。 <完> 删除 |

I was about to leave. 我正好要离开. 大家都有这样的经验吧! 正好要出门时, 电话就响了. 一接电话, 对方劈头就骂, "怎么还没出门啊"? 这时你就可以说. "I was about to leave" 我正好要出门, 你就打电话来了 (好像每次都是那么刚好). 这句话也可以说成, "I am leaving." The homework is due two weeks from Monday. 这个作业在二个星期后的星期一交. 在英文中要提到下星期一可以用 next Monday, 下下星期一偷懒的话可以说 next next Moday. 但是有时候这种说法并不是很明确. 例如今天是星期日, 那 next Monday 倒底是指明天的那个星期一呢? 还是指一星期后的那个星期一呢? 所以为了要区别二者间的不同, 明天的那个星期一可以说 coming Monday,而一个星期后的星期一则是 one week from Monday. 这样子就很明确, 而且也比较灵活. 像三个星期后的星期一你总不能说 next next next Moday 吧? 这时用 three weeks from Monday 就没错了. 因为 next 的意思容易使人混淆, 所以使用时要特别小心. 记得寒假期间, 我问一个老美下学期修什么课我就用 next semester 这个字. 但他显然很困惑不知道我是指 spring semester 还是指 fall semester, 像这种情形我建议各位还是用 this coming semester 或是直接讲 spring semester 会比较好一些. 2.
