He noted that first came her date of birthAnd spoke the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years. (l900-l970)For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth... And now only those who loved her Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; The cars...the house...the cash, What matters is how we live and loveAnd how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard... Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left, That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what's true and real, And always try to understand The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, And more often wear a smile... Remembering that this special dashMight only last a little while. So, when your eulogy's being read With your life's actions to rehash... Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash?

我读到一个人在他朋友葬礼上的致辞他提到她墓碑上的日子从开始……到结束他先提到她的出生然后含着泪，说起她去世的日子但他说，最重要的是这两个日期之间的破折号因为这个破折号代表了她在人世活过的所有时间如今，只有爱她的人才了解这小小的横线的价值因为我们拥有多少，并不重要——汽车、房子、金钱重要的是，我们如何生活、如何去爱以及如何度过我们的这根横线那么，好好想一想，细细想一想有什么你想要去改变？因为你无法知道，还有多少来日可以让你重新安排我们可不可以把步子放慢想一想，什么才是真正重要的要试着去了解别人的感受不要轻易发火多表达出一些善意就像我们从来没有爱过那样爱我们生命中的每一个人我们可不可彼此尊重脸上常常带着微笑……要记住，这个特别的破折号是多么的短暂因此，当别人读出你的颂词重提你的一生……你会不会对你自己如何度过你的破折号而感到骄傲？
