National ICT Australia (NICTA) is Australia's ICT Research Centre of Excellence. NICTA aims to bring together world-class researchers and professional staff, enhances their skills, and build a culture of entrepreneurship and achievement in use-inspired research that will build Australia's ICT capacity.

We are seeking researchers to join our ESE team undertaking fundamental and applied research and development in the three areas of expertise which form the focus of this program's projects. These areas of expertise are process modelling and improvement, requirements engineering, and software architecture.

You would be a recent PhD graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline or a post doc with a research background in one or more of the above areas. PhD students very near submission would also be considered. You will be comfortable working with others in a team environment on open ended problems that usually involve an industrial or government partner. It is expected that you will develop your own area of expertise that contributes to the projects. We are particularly interested in candidates who can bridge the areas of business and/or software process modelling.

Position Title: Researcher

Location: Australian Technology Park, Sydney

Position Profile:

Carry out research and project activities in alignment with NICTA's objectives of research, commercialisation, education and linkage.

Accountabilities and Associated Responsibilities:

• Achieve the highest international standards of research,
• Contribute to the administrative and academic functions of the Research Laboratory,
• Form research synergies with other research activities within the Research Laboratory, within NICTA more generally, with NICTA partner universities and other research institutions,
• Actively manage successful research and development interaction with industry.
• Contribute to the corporate development of the Centre through assisting in the induction.
• Training and mentoring of staff
• Maintain high ethical and performance standard
• Commitment to the principles and practices of equal opportunity.

Essential Requirements:

• PhD or near graduation in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information System.
• Demonstrated experience in business and/or software process modelling.
• Demonstrated experience in taking a proactive role in research.
• Proficiency in common office applications such as MS word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable Requirements:

• Preparedness to travel interstate.
• Industrial experience in software engineering.
• High level communications skills and confidence suited to liaison with industry partners.
• Ability to work autonomously or within a team.
