Call for Papers IEEE International Conference on Service-Oriented Computing and Applications (SOCA'10) December 13-15, 2010, Perth, Australia (http://conferences.computer.org/soca/) PURPOSE AND SCOPE With the ever-increasing complexity of computing systems, and their increasingly complex interactions with the physical environment, service-oriented computing (SOC) is considered today as a key technology for the development of robust and high quality distributed applications. Extensive research and development in the past few years has pushed SOC technology into numerous application areas including business processes, high-performance computing, web-based services, embedded systems, and many others. With more and more services being moved into the 'cloud', and the increasing prevalence of ubiquitous end devices that interface with physical world, it is timely to reexamine the directions of SOC research and identify new research opportunities and challenges. For example, with the maturity of virtualization techniques and infrastructure, the wider adoption of 'clouds' becomes more prominent, while research on the applications of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS remains active. Furthermore, ubiquitous devices, context-aware systems, and sensor networks are increasingly being used in areas such as transportation, healthcare and disaster control; and this fact is making cyber-physical systems a challenging area for the SOC research community. Moreover, in recent years, services for mobile internet devices such as iPhone, Android Phone (like Motorola Droid and Google Phone), and Amazon Kindle DX are emerging and becoming accepted by consumers. It is also predicted that the market for mobile services will grow sharply. SOCA'10 provides an international forum for researchers from multiple disciplines to exchange and share their experiences, ideas, and latest research results on all aspects of service-oriented computing. Papers from industry in services science are also welcome, as SOCA'10 will have a special session on business services and technology. A Best Paper Award will be presented to the best paper selected from the accepted full papers. All accepted papers will appear in the Proceedings of SOCA 2010 and be included in IEEE Xplore and indexed by EI. The best papers from the proceedings will be selected for publication in the Springer Journal on Service-Oriented Computing and Applications (SOCA) as well as special issues in international journals to be announced. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: -Service-oriented architecture -Service-oriented software engineering -Service system technology -Service-oriented applications -Service-oriented semantic computing -Service management -Quality of services -SOC for cyber-physical systems -Embedded and real-time services -Grid and cloud services -Semantic Web services -Multi-agent system -Mobile service engineering and applications -Business services and technology IMPORTANT DATES Paper submission: extended to August 19, 2010 Author notification: September 20, 2010 Final manuscript: October 10, 2010 PAPER SUBMISSION Papers presenting original and unpublished work are invited and will be evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Submitted papers should be formatted in a two-column IEEE Computer Society format (URL: http://computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm) and should not exceed eight pages including figures and references. Submissions will be via the conference web site linked through http://conferences.computer.org/soca/ (or http://conference.iis.sinica.edu.tw/Conference- Submission/servlet/Member/PersonManipulation?actionConference=63 directly) For further information of the conference, please contact local organizers or Dr Jun Shen at jshen@uow.edu.au ORGANIZING COMMITTEE General Co-chairs Tharam Dillon, Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia Guenter Mueller, Universit鋞 Freiburg, Germany Kwei-Jay Lin, University of California, Irvine, USA Program Co-chairs Jun Shen, University of Wollongong, Australia Soo Dong Kim, Soongsil University, Korea Nalini Venkatasubramanian, University of California, Irvine, USA Program Vice Chairs 1.
