XML作者之一的Tim Bray於16日正式加入昇陽（Sun）公司軟體部門，
並擔任技術總監（technical director）職務，
同時負責XML為主的內容組合技術（XML-based syndication technologies）。

Tim Bray指出，昇陽公司在blogging與整合領域都具有重要地位，
未來技術前瞻將是整合RSS、XML與進階搜尋技術，
同時也將致力於利用RSS技術，將blogging與syndication技術加入昇陽公司產品當中。
另外昇陽公司開放原始碼的應用軟體Java Desktop System，
包括Linux與OpenOffice.org也將是最有可能使用到內容搜尋與整合的技術。

除了RSS標準外，許多人也同時在觀察由IBM公司Sam Ruby所領導的Atom標準，
而該標準目前正在IETF（Internet Engineering Task Force）進行審查。

Tim Bray is a Canadian, a graduate of the University of Guelph, and a 20-year veteran of the technology business. After working for DEC (R.I.P.) and GTE, he became manager of the New Oxford English Dictionary Project at the University of Waterloo in 1987, co-founded Open Text Corporation in 1989, and built one of the first successful commercial Internet search engines in 1994. Bray表示，他在找工作的时候碰到升阳的技术长John Fowler，
因此决定接下新的职务。Bray在星期一正式上任，Bray将对Fowler进行汇报。
虽然Bray新的工作，不用负责任何的升阳产品，
不过Bray指出，升阳的Java Desktop System最可能会用到他所研究的搜寻和整合技术。
Java Desktop System是升阳开放原始码的桌上应用软件，
包括了Linux和OpenOffice.org办公室软件。
Bray表示，「企业界认为Java Desktop System并不是blogging和syndication的顶级选择，
但Java Desktop System应该是一个顶级选择。」
Bray在整合规格讨讨论当中也是一个活跃的人物。
Bray在Dave Winer所提出的技术草案当中，也提供了部分建议。
在RSS走向网络标准团体的发展当中，Dave Winer被认为最主要的意见领袖。
Bray表示，「让RSS有更正式的标准，对每个人都有好处，不会有人因此受到妨碍。」

RSS的支持者也密切观察另一个竞争规格Atom的发展。
Atom是由IBM的工程师Sam Ruby带头，并拥有Google旗下Blogger品牌的支持，
Atom目前正在进行IETF（Internet Engineering Task Force）的标准化
