Last chance to register for Security Forum and Telecom Workshop

Online registration for the OASIS Security Forum and SOA Telecom Workshop closes 24 Sept. The Forum, will focus on 'Security Challenges for the Information Society' will be held 1-3 Oct. It will be preceded by the 'SOA for Telecom' Workshop on 30 Sept. Both events will be held at the historic Ditton Manor near London. Discounts for groups and for OASIS members are still available.

OASIS Standard vote on UOML 1.0 opens

Balloting for the Unstructured Operation Markup Language (UOML) Part 1 version 1.0 is now underway and will close 30 Sept. UOML defines a markup language for unstructured document operation. The specification was developed by representatives of Primeton Technologies, Avaya, and others. All organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to vote on UOML; those who wish to discuss this ballot may do so through member-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org.

Members seek feedback on draft charters for CMIS and MOX TCs

All interested parties are asked to review and comment on two draft charters to establish new OASIS TCs.

The proposed OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) TC intends to advance a standard that uses Web services and Web 2.0 interfaces to enable applications to interoperate with multiple Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repositories from different vendors. CMIS TC proposers include representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors, IBM and Oracle, and Sponsors, EMC, Microsoft, Open Text, SAP, and others. The comment period for this draft charter closes 24 Sept.

The proposed OASIS Semantic Mapping of XML (MOX) TC will work on an SOA standard to discover and compose services based on semantic analysis or mapping. MOX will focus on use cases in telecommunications and healthcare. MOX TC proposers include representatives of Booz Allen Hamilton, Nortel, and others. The comment period for this draft charter closes 22 Sept.

WS-Trust 1.3 Errata public review begins

WS-Trust provides methods for issuing, renewing, and validating security tokens as well as establishing, detecting, and brokering trust relationships. This public review ends 20 Sept.

Enrico Ronco of Telecom Italia was elected to serve a one-year term on the OASIS Telecom Member Section Steering Committee. OASIS Telecom is committed to bringing the full advantages of SOA to the telecommunications industry.
