                        DETAILS

Earlier this year our team joined two new EC-funded projects: SOA4ALL (www.soa4all.org) and COMMIUS (www.commius.eu), in addition to our ongoing participation in SUDDEN (www.sudden.biz).  This means we are now expecting permission to recruit one Post-doctoral Research Fellow and one Post-doctoral Research Associate in the area of Service Systems Engineering, with a particular focus on Semantic Services, Knowledge-based Systems and Software Agents.

Our team is a part of the recently formed Centre for Service Research within the Manchester Business School, the University of Manchester.  To address the increasing requirement for a multidisciplinary approach to service research, the Centre brings together almost 30 academics from the School, with a current project funding of £2.3 million to MBS and the university.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with the following characteristics:

(a) dedication to research;
(b) established track record of creating and publishing results of high research quality, relevant to the project themes above;
(c) strong technical skills and experience of programming in Java;
(d) substantial mathematical background;
(e) experience of working on international projects, especially funded by EC FP6 and FP7;
(f) confident presentation skills;
(g) where appropriate, evidence of proficiency in English, commensurate with IELTS score of 7.0 or above.

In addition, the candidate at Research Fellow level is expected to demonstrate research maturity, project management skills, and record of publications in international journals.

In return we offer dynamic and exciting research environment, opportunity to collaborate with top research and industrial institutions across Europe and frequent European travel. Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

The start date for these positions will be 1st September 2008 or as soon as possible after that.  The current end date is 28th February 2011, subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period.  However, we have been able to generate continuous funding stream since 2002, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to, and benefit from the continuation of this funding.

If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact Nikolay Mehandjiev via email, with a CV including a list of publications.  Please note that we aim to complete selection by 1st September 2008, and that a formal application process will be initiated in the next couple of weeks.
